Masjid Nurul Islam (Patong Mosque)

Masjid Nurul Islam (Patong Mosque)

Mosque · Phuket, Thailand

Masjid Nurul Islam is the main mosque serving Patong, one of Phuket’s busiest coastal districts. Also referred to as Patong Mosque, it stands on Phrabaramee Road, the route linking Patong with Phuket Town and Kathu. Its green dome and minaret make it one of the most visible religious landmarks in the area, especially for visitors entering Patong from the inland side. The mosque is close to Patong Beach, giving it a practical role for local residents, workers, tourists, and expatriates who need a place of worship within the resort district.

The building is arranged across three storeys. The ground floor includes ablution facilities, the second floor functions as the main prayer area, and the third floor provides additional space when needed. Friday prayer draws a large mixed congregation, reflecting Patong’s combination of local Muslim families and international visitors. A wrap-around balcony on the second floor also supports informal gathering and learning. The mosque’s identity is shaped by its location: it brings a settled community function into a part of Phuket better known for hotels, beach access, restaurants, transport activity, and visitor movement.
