Masjid Darul Ghufran
Mosque · Singapore City, Singapore
Masjid Darul Ghufran is the main mosque serving Tampines and one of the most important mosque complexes in eastern Singapore. Opened in 1990, it was built to support the growing Muslim population in the new town as Tampines developed into a major residential and transport hub. Its position beside Our Tampines Hub and near Tampines MRT gives the mosque a central neighbourhood role for residents, students, workers, and families in the area.
The mosque underwent reconstruction and major upgrading from 2016 and reopened in 2019 with expanded facilities. Three floors were added to the existing structure, including a basement carpark, a fourth storey, and a roof terrace. The upgraded mosque can accommodate up to 5,500 worshippers, making it the largest mosque in Singapore by prayer capacity. It also includes new annexes for offices and Islamic education classrooms, a religious outreach centre, and a youth hub. Masjid Darul Ghufran’s role is therefore both local and large-scale: it functions as a daily prayer space, education centre, community facility, and major congregational mosque for the eastern part of Singapore.
