An-Nahdhah Mosque

An-Nahdhah Mosque

Mosque · Singapore City, Singapore

An-Nahdhah Mosque stands in Bishan as a modern neighbourhood mosque with a wider public role beyond daily worship. Opened on 6 January 2006, it was developed to serve the Muslim community around the Bishan area and became the sixth mosque built under Phase III of Singapore’s Mosque Building Fund programme. Its position in a central residential town gives it a practical community function, supported by a building designed for regular congregational use, religious classes, family programmes, and larger gatherings.

The mosque’s most distinctive feature is the Harmony Centre, housed within the same complex. Opened later in 2006, the centre was created as a space for visitors to learn about Muslim life, Islamic civilisation, interfaith understanding, and Singapore’s multicultural setting. This makes An-Nahdhah different from a conventional prayer-focused mosque, as it also serves as a bridge between faith communities through exhibitions, talks, training, and engagement programmes. The building itself has a modern urban style rather than a heritage or kampung form, with three storeys, barrier-free access, classrooms, activity spaces, and a prayer capacity of about 4,000. In Bishan, it functions as both a local mosque and a civic-facing institution shaped by education, accessibility, and community cohesion.
