Cuisines: Indian
Kebab Aur Sharab is an Indian restaurant in New York City’s Upper West Side. The restaurant is led by chef and restaurateur Salil Mehta, whose restaurant group is also connected to LAUT, the first Malaysian restaurant in New York to receive a Michelin star. Kebab Aur Sharab focuses on regional Indian cuisine, with dishes inspired by the street food, comfort food, and restaurant traditions that Mehta grew up with in India.
The menu highlights tandoor cooking, kebabs, curries, breads, and dishes influenced by different parts of India. Its “koyle se” selections include items cooked over coal in a tandoor, while other menu examples include Dori Kebab, Kashmiri Chili Tandoori Chicken, Lal Maans Lamb Chops, Garam Masala Steak Tomahawk, Sardaji ka Fish Tikka, Grilled Tapori Prawns, Andhra Chilli Chicken, and Korma Al Jawahar Jaisa.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is designed with references to a Punjabi kothi or haveli, combining traditional Punjabi and colonial design elements with contemporary touches. The space includes peacock-inspired colours, a skylight mural, hand-carved teak wood panelling, and vintage wooden artifacts from India. The main dining room seats around 55 guests, with additional seating at the bar and enclosed sidewalk area.
