Aasha Restaurant, Cafe & Bar
Casual Dining · Phuket, Thailand
Cuisines: Thai, Indian, European
Aasha sits inside Amala Grand Bleu Resort above Kamala Beach, where a terrace built from wood and stone opens directly onto the sea, and a thatched bamboo ceiling covers the indoor portion of the dining room. Guests can choose between the open air tables, cooled by the breeze off the water, or the more sheltered seats further inside.
Rather than committing to one cuisine, the kitchen runs three menus in parallel. The Thai side covers familiar ground with tom yum goong, a green curry built on fresh chilies and coconut milk, and pad Thai stir-fried with tamarind and egg. An Indian menu sits alongside it, built around a chicken biryani cooked with layered basmati rice, a palak paneer of spinach and fresh cheese, and naan baked to order. A third, European leaning list of grilled salmon, spaghetti carbonara, and a Caesar salad rounds out the offering, aimed at guests who want something closer to home. The spread reflects the mixed clientele a resort restaurant tends to draw, and the kitchen moves between the three registers without treating any of them as an afterthought.
Kamala sits on Phuket's west coast, a quieter stretch north of Patong known for its long beach and a slower pace than the island's more built up tourist areas. The resort itself is set back from the main road, and Aasha's terrace looks out over the Andaman Sea, making it as much a spot for the view as for the food. The restaurant describes its own style as elegantly casual, a fit for both a quick lunch after the beach and a longer dinner as the sun goes down over the water.
