Taipei Cultural Mosque (台北文化清真寺)

Mosque · Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei Cultural Mosque is a mosque in Zhongzheng District, close to National Taiwan University and the Taipower Building area. It was first established in 1950 by Imam Is’haaq Yom-Tai Shiao, also known as Xiao Yongtai, and is connected with the Chinese Muslim Youth League. The mosque developed from an earlier prayer space and later moved to its present location on Xinhai Road after changes around Roosevelt Road.

The current mosque was rebuilt as a five-storey building in 1983. It has served as a place of worship, a religious education centre, and a community base for Chinese Muslim Youth League activities. The building has prayer areas and community-use spaces arranged vertically, reflecting its compact city location. A reopening ceremony was held in 2010 after renovation work. Taipei Cultural Mosque remains one of the established Muslim institutions in Taipei, supporting regular prayers, learning activities, and community gatherings in a neighbourhood shaped by universities, residential streets, small businesses, and transport links.
